Tamiya BMW R75/5 Part 1

I know its been more than a month that I've been working on the kit, the BMW R75/5. Is not a complicated kit but is an old one. Many parts are not as perfect fit as my last kit, the Honda Monkey. A lot of flaws needed to be touch up with putty. Especially the engine area, took me 2 weeks. Here's a random pix of the parts I managed to finish. Going for a semi gloss black and a matt gold vintage look.

Coraline (2002) is a novella for children and adults by the British author Neil Gaiman. This story has been compared to Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland books because of its surreality and its alternate-reality based plot. Following the success of the book the adaptation of the plot to the cinema has been decided. As a result an animated movie based on Neil Gaiman's novel should be released in January 2009. The movie uses both stop-motion technics and CGI in order to produce a brand new experience for the spectators.

Hot on Joker's heels, came Ironman Mk2. Is a better head sculpt this time and they manage to squeeze Robert head into the mask. The sculpter, Yulli from Korea really did a good job. This little girl sure have nifty hands! Not sure if the mask can pull down. I would love to have a gold color one. It will be non-stop roller coaster ride for collectors this year from Hot Toys. And we are hoping for a 3rd Joker. I would love them to do James Gordon (Gary Oldman).

So much hypes and reviews since the launch of the 3G iPhone that I just feel nothing excites me anymore. Until I came across this. Is not from Apple. A very refreshing design, which using the idea of multilayered plywood concept. And each layer has its own distinct function. From a photo printer to a mini digital projector! Yep. Is still a concept phone but as chips and electronic parts get smaller, the impossibility seems possible. Who knows in future, it might even make your a cup of coffee. My congrats to Singapore gahmen investment returns in sports. An Olympic medal. We are definitely getting one. Either a Gold or a Silver. And the Singapore National Olympic Council's Multi-Million Dollar Award Programme (quite a mouth full), is giving away $750,000 for reaching the finals and $1.5 million if they win the gold! The table-tennis players must be jumping up and down now. Is winning more of a Pride and Honor or a matter of Medal and Money?

I personally feel we should be investing the money (tax payer money) into nurturing our young sportsmen rather then getting imports. It will be a better investment for the future. Look at our Singapore National Football team now, so many foreign players! I wouldn't be surprise the whole team ended up with imports later. A Singapore International Football team. And the gahmen wants the 80's Kallang roar back! Try harder. I want to know what I'm "roaring" about first. That reminds me of The Kallang Roar the movie that's coming soon.

What do you think? Should we get foreign sport talents or nurture our own sport talents?

First I was in awe by the opening ceremony. Then I was in shocked to see our flag bearer was a china-born Li Jiawei. She is one example of the Singapore government's attempts to acquire foreign talents in sport. I feel totally lost here...left China for Singapore, now back in China, flag bearing Singapore flag...hmm. Anyway, as a Singapore chinese, the thing I'm really proud of was the show which director Zhang Yimou put up for the rest of the world to see. He did a spectacular job. Truly magical! The next 2012 Olympic in London will have to be better than this.

I'm half way finishing the bike. Just completed the carburetor and rear damper. Moving on to the muffer, wheels and front suspension. And I might be making a helmet.

The old school Honda badge goes very well with the stripes. And I'm quite happy how the fuel tank turn out to be.

Tamiya Honda Monkey Part 3

Decided not to follow the instruction manual fuel tank color but to go with a "FORD GT" stripe look. A yellow tank with 3 black and 2 thin white stripes. I start primer the tank with Mr.Surfacer 1000 and let it dry for a day.

Next step, I spray the whole tank using White and let it dry for about 3 hours. Masked the stripe area and prepare the tank for the Yellow.

After 2 layers of Yellow, I let it dry for about 2 hour and carefully peel off the masking tape to reveal the white stripe. Next I cut 2 thin strips (1mm) of masking tape which will run parallel in the centre of the white stripe. After this is done I masked the whole tank, exposing only the white stripe which we going to spray it in Black.

Three swift strokes is all it takes. Be careful not to over spray the Black. I let it dry for about 3 hour in room temperature. No fanning cos you don't want tiny dust stuck to it.

Finally, I peel off the masking. Revealing the "FORD GT" stripes!

And a final spray of gloss coating over it. ^.^

Just finished the engine part. I used TS-14 spray-can for the engine and brush paint the cylinder. Trying some chalk technic to give it an "aging look". You can clearly see the difference between the 2 types of paint technic. Air-brushing will be good but I don't have the space to set up a spray booth. Next I will be moving on to the carburetor, suspensions and wheels.
